Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during groundworks at the site of a housing development. An earlier desk-top study and a walkover survey had identified that a number of lynchets were present at the site, and that it had potential for prehistoric, Anglo-Saxon and medieval remains. A subsequent evaluation showed that the lynchets were of post-medieval date, and produced some evidence for deeply buried charcoal horizons which were thought to have been of prehistoric date. During the watching brief, no archaeological features or artefacts were observed. [AIP] |
