Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken in advance of proposed new construction of school buildings and facilities. The work identified the presence of at least two linear features of probable prehistoric origin, a single post-setting of probable 12th century origin and a large, backfilled pond probably extant to until the mid 19th century. In addition to these features, a possible ditch, two post holes and a large pit were also identified, although remained undated. Overall the evaluation demonstrated that there had been little activity in any prehistoric or historic period within the development area, with an apparent absence of any evidence to suggest Roman or Anglo-Saxon activity on the site.
