Abstract: |
Nine trenches were excavated to evaluate a site proposed for redevelopment directly adjacent to the River Mimram. Part of the site had undergone modern disturbance and a horizon of post-medieval activity was identified across much of the site. Layers of riverine silt indicated that the area had been prone to flooding, with utilisation of much of this site only possible during the post-medieval and modern periods following the canalisation of the river.
