Abstract: |
Additonal works at Site 7 were carried out, and comprised four machine-cut trial pits. The aim of the evaluation was to determine if the upper part of the subsoil was colluvial and if so, whether it sealed or contained any horizons or deposits of archaeological or ecofactual interest. Two trenches located definite archaeological features, two pits and a ditch. Both of the features seemed to be sealed by a considerable deposit of reworked brickearth, possibly colluvial in origin. The features were of definite prehistoric date, probably early Iron Age, though a Bronze Age date could not be ruled out as most of the pottery sherds recovered from the features were small and undiagnostic.
