Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken during the construction of a new dwelling. Donington lay at the eastern end of the Romano-British thoroughfare, the Salter's Way, although no settlement had been found associated with this. The site lay immediately west of the medieval parish church of St. Mary and the Holy Road. The watching brief identified a natural silt overlain by a topsoil which had subsequently been covered by recent dumping. Artefacts retrieved comprised pottery of post-medieval date. [Au(abr)] |
