Abstract: |
The assessment was undertaken which was to form part of an Environmental Statement, prepared to accompany a planning application for additional clay storage and extraction at the site. The application area was situated in the vicinity of an Iron Age hillfort and a Romano-British settlement, excavated in the 1970 but now removed by quarrying. Earthworks relating to medieval and post-medieval agriculture was also located close by. There was no recorded archaeology within the application area, although it was conceivable that the previously documented Romano-British settlement might have extended into these areas. [Au(abr)] |
