Abstract: |
Desk-based assessment of the proposed site of a race-track revealed that a Mesolithic flint, Early Iron Age pottery and Roman pottery had been found within a 1km radius of the site, and that a modern well house immediately to the north covered a well thought to date from 1666. Buildings and features of the post-medieval period had been documented in the surrounding area. It was concluded that the proposed route had a moderate archaeological potential. A watching brief during topsoil stripping for the development was recommended. [AIP] |
