Abstract: |
<summary>An evaluation was undertaken prior to proposed development. In order to minimise destruction of archaeological deposits two small engineering test-pits, which had been dug prior to the evaluation, were enlarged to 1.2 x 1.2m. Both trenches revealed a considerable depth of "urban-type" archaeological deposits of medieval and post-medieval date. The medieval deposits appeared essentially undisturbed, and their damp condition potentially offered a wealth of environmental data. A lack of deposits from the 14th/15th to late 17th centuries made it difficult to determine what sort of activity had taken place on the site during this period. Further work was recommended. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
