Abstract: |
The desktop assessment suggested that the study area lay on the line of the town defences which had a medieval or earlier origin. They had been suggested to run parallel immediately northeast of the medieval burgage plots that fronted onto the High Street at the southwest of the development site and incorporated an earthen bank and a ditch. Neither of the features had been identified by archaeological excavation to date. [Au(abr)] |
