Abstract: |
A desk-based assessement, supported by preliminary field survey, of land proposed for reclamation works on a site of the former South Frances mine, was undertaken. Reclamation of residual materials from across most of the site in recent years had eradicated almost all of the 19th century features, with the exception of the engine house (a Grade II Listed Building), two ruinous masonry structures, and a pair of probably 20th century settling tanks. One shaft, Daubuz's Shaft, was located in the field, whilst a second cartographically documented shaft-like feature was not identified, probably being buried beneath disturbed material. [Au(adp)] |
