Abstract: |
Fieldwork and laboratory analyses were carried out in order to locate zones with a potential for significant buried cavities containing Quaternary sediments and buried archaeology, at a site proposed for a quarry extension. Six general topographic zones were identified within the study area. It was possible to carry out a pilot study of soil thermal regime within one of these areas. Hand augering and a magnetic susceptibility study were also undertaken, and biological parameters were discussed. The presence of two cave systems within the study area was demonstrated; these were named 'Limekiln Close Cave' and 'Intake Cave'. [AIP] |
