Abstract: |
The assessment identified that no archaeological material had been found specifically from the site, although this could have been due to a lack of archaeological survey. There was no evidence relating to early activity in the immediate area, however, the possibility of prehistoric evidence in the area could not be entirely dismissed. Sites nearby, such as a possible moated enclosure and Temple Elfold dated to the medieval period. Early cartographic evidence revealed that the land had not been developed in recent history, and had been utilised as either arable or grazing land, although a proportion of the land appeared to have been woodland for a considerable amount of time.
