Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation undertaken in advance of redevelopment revealed a medieval horizon to be present at the front part of the site. Two undatable stone wall foundations were identified, probably derived from medieval occupation of the site, which truncated a medieval horizon that had sealed an additional feature at the front of the site. No archaeological features were revealed in the western part of the site. A second phase of work (six test pits) characterised the deposits and the degree of survival within the footprint of the existing building. Archaeological features and layers were preserved below the existing building, albeit truncated. [Au(adp)] |
