Abstract: |
The gradiometer results were dominated by strong magnetic responses produced by the underlying geology and a number of modern factors. Although some strong anomalies were noted that formed possible archaeological patterns, their interpretation was inconclusive. A number of anomalies were recorded by the resistance survey that could have related to former buildings, although the interpretation was again complicated by geological factors. No clear individual wall lines were identified; the results suggested rubble spreads associated with collapsed/demolished buildings or small sections of substantial walls. The GPR survey identified several responses that could be related to known former buildings and a few less conclusive anomalies which may, nonetheless, have been of archaeological interest.
