Abstract: |
A small-scale excavation was undertaken prior to the development of a 'single store rear extension with basement rooms and single storey side bay with balustrade and balcony'. No ancient archaeological remains were uncovered. A number of post-medieval and more modern features were noted; a previous course of concrete patio slabs was visible beneath the present patio. A possible service trench was noted, with modern pottery, and probably contained services associated with the nearby pool. An earlier brick soakaway was also examined, with an associated pipe leading towards the house. [Au(adp)] |
