Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken at Wyre Bridge, Wyre Piddle, a Scheduled Ancient Monument, three trenches were excavated to accommodate new water mains. It was recorded as early as 1599 as being 'in ill repair' so an earlier date can be assumed. The watching brief revealed that there was no evidence for any archaeological deposits associated with the construction of the bridge within the areas examined. [AIP] |
