Abstract: |
The geophysical survey confirmed the position of former field boundaries and identified three small groups of faint curvilinear and linear anomalies of possible archaeological interest. Trial excavation trenches exposed archaeologically sterile subterranean deposits at locations where the position of the former field boundaries were represented by low earth banks. Other recent activity was represented by a carefully constructed surface of pitched machine-cut bricks. Two isolated flint artefacts of indeterminate prehistoric date were recovered from an alluvial horizon. Other finds were very limited indeed and largely restricted to unstratified material of post-medieval and modern date. [Au(abr)] |
