Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during groundworks necessitated by building works at a site which lay close to one of the Chichester Dykes, a Scheduled Ancient Monument comprising a defensive bank and ditch of probable Iron Age date. The only finds recovered were small quantities of modern brick and tile from the topsoil; no archaeological features or deposits were observed. It was concluded that any remains of a bank associated with the entrenchment were likely to be found to the north, alongside the ditch. [Au(adp)] |
