Abstract: |
A resistivity survey of the site of a small mansion was commissioned. The mansion had been enlarged from a farmstead in c. 1688-1700, and had been demolished following the sale of the estate in 1767. The site of the building had been identified through excavation, and the survey was carried out in order to locate the position of a cellar thought to have underlain one of its rooms. A number of anomalies were recorded, and were interpreted as the walls of the mansion, a probable small building, a metalled road, the probabe site of a tree, a boundary ditch and traces of a formal garden. A possible water feature was also noted. [AIP] |
