Abstract: |
A monitoring visit to a construction site was made at short notice. New foundations were already in place at the time of the visit, so that it was possible only to inspect the spoil heap created by the excavation of foundation trenches. Roman occupation debris had previously been found in the vicinity of the site. No archaeological artefacts were observed on the spoil heaps, and nothing of potential interest had been noticed by workmen during excavation. It was concluded that features or deposits of archaeological interest were unlikely to have been damaged or destroyed by the works. [AIP] |
