Abstract: |
An evaluation was undertaken on the proposed site of a new pumping station. This included desk based assessment, geophysical survey and the excavation of three trial trenches and two test pits. The geophysical survey noted a number of anomalies, and clearly defined an area of ridge and furrow only partially visible on the ground. The trenches were positioned to examine these anomalies, it was established they were dumps of ash and cinders, probably to ameliorate the wet ground conditions and make movement of vehicles easier. Both of the test pits revealed natural features. [Au(abr)] |
