Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out behind the Grade II Listed Building which dated to the early 19th century within the medieval suburb of Warwick. No features were observed in the sections but a large number of finds were noted in the spoil. A large number of fragments of roof tiles were noted, along with pottery, bottle glass and fragments of clay tobacco pipe dating to the 17th and 18th centuries. The pottery consisted of fragments of feather-trailed slipware and dark-on-light slipware, manganese-mottled ware, Midland Yellow and black-glazed types. The clay tobacco pipe bowl was of an Oswald G5 type dating to c.1640-60. [Au(adp)] |
