Abstract: |
Documentary research was carried out on an area of land highlighted for proposed redevelopment as a supermarket. The study examined the medieval borough, town, castle and quay of Framlingham. This suggested possible evidence from the burgage tenements abutting on the market place. Rubbish pits, a palisaded earthen defensive system, the quay and a gate or gatehouse were predicted as being likely to be encountered during the evaluation. [Au(abr)] |
