Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the construction of a new office building. No archaeological remains pre-dating the mid 20th century were encountered during the watching brief. The position of the depot abutting the north-east side of the Dover-Canterbury Roman Road meant that any further development within its vicinity will have to be subject to close archaeological monitoring. It was thought that the possibility of both contemporary settlement and burials being situated beside the road or the location of prehistoric flint implements, of which numerous quantities had been retrieved from the surrounding landscape.
