Abstract: |
A desk-based study to assess the archaeological implications of the siting of a portal to an undergrounded A303 in the area identified 121 previously recorded sites within the surrounding study area. Eleven archaeological monuments could be recognized including a large Bronze Age round barrow cemetery at Winterburne Stoke, a class I henge, a long barrow, an oval barrow, a Bronze Age settlement, a linear earthwork, an enclosure and a flint scatter.
