Abstract: |
The site was believed to be within the postulated area of the Roman town of Sorviodunum, which had recently been found to be much larger than was previously thought. However, apart from one sherd of pottery, no Roman finds were forthcoming. Residual finds of 13th-14th century pottery and tile may have indicated tentative medieval settlement in the area. The discovery of late 18th century material appeared to be consistent with the location of a post-medieval tenement. [Au(adp)] |
