Abstract:
Planning permission had been granted for the extension of the quarry in 1960. It was deemed necessary to undertake an archaeological desk based assessment to ascertain whether the planning permission was still valid. Nothing of archaeological significance was revealed although the need for a watching brief during further work was deemed necessary due to the unknown quantity of the archaeological resource within the site.
