Abstract: |
The evaluation involved the machine excavation of two trial pits in advance of a proposed new distribution centre construction. The area had been extensively quarried for brick-earth and evidence of this could be seen in the form of a large quantity of brick kiln debris. The natural subsoil had a layer of made ground over it which represented redeposited 19th century natural soil, probably derived from brick- earth extraction. The depth of overburden on the site meant that future works were unlikely to impact significantly on any surviving deposits. [Au(adp)] |
