Abstract: |
The archaeological evaluation consisted of trenches situated over linear earthworks, possibly part of a medieval village of West Ashton. The excavation identified two ditches. These ditches may have represented part of a bank and ditch surrounding the medieval village, or alternatively could have been part of a former track or hollow way, to the west of and parallel with Bratton Road. Further evidence of medieval activity was represented by a ditch [possibly part of an enclosure]. Wall foundations also found presumably represented a farm building adjacent to the modern track.
