Abstract: |
An evaluation was undertaken at the site because although no finds had been made at the site the projected line of the Roman Road from Winchester to Silchester passed through it. In the event no trace of the road was discovered, it may be that it had been completely eroded away, or more likely that it detoured to avoid this wetter area of land. Evidence of landscape changes were recorded, such as episodic silting and the occurrence of palaeochannels. [Au(abr)] |
