Abstract: |
This watching brief was originally intended to observe machine cutting of foundation and service trenches for the new dwellings on the site. However the initial stripping consisted mainly of removal vegetation and just a small amount of topsoil. This soil was made ground from the former use of the land. The ground was then made up again and the foundations cut into this land, thus not impacting on underlying deposits. However, a deep trench was observed being excavated near the river by Southern Water, no archaeological remains were located on any part of the site. [Au(adp)] |
