Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of an extension to a quarry. Fieldwalking over part of the site yielded a small number of artefacts, including a Bronze Age arrowhead and late medieval to post-medieval pottery. Trial trenches revealed that cropmark sites observed on aerial photographs of the northern part of the site were of natural origin, although a ditch was revealed within a cropmark site to the south. No further work was recommended, as the ditch lay outside the actual proposed extension area, but further excavation in the event of a subsequent extension was recommended. [Au(abr)] |
