Abstract: |
A watching brief was held over removal of the concrete runway at the redundant air base of Greeham Common so that parts of the area could become a heathland nature reserve. The work did not reveal the presence of archaeological features or finds. The gravel recorded below the concrete appeared to have been laid as make-up/hardcore for the concrete runway. As this material was not fully removed, it masked in part the Plateau Gravel natural and may have obscured any archaeological deposits, if present. [Au(adp)] |
