Abstract: |
A desk based study, brief fieldwork and geophysical survey established that the route of the Menheniot Coldrenick water main passed through an area containing medieval settlements and traces of earlier, probably prehistoric remains. Later features, such as ploughed out field boundaries, were also located by geophysical survey. The density of features located by the geophysical survey suggested that more remains were likely to be discovered when the main was constructed. It was recommended that a watching brief be maintained over excavation for the pipeline. Particular attention was deemed necessary on the areas sampled by geophysical survey close to Bodway Farm, where features identified were deemed necessary of survey and archaeological recording.
