The abstract describing the content of the publication or report
Abstract:		 Desk-based assessment of a proposed development site identified that it lay within the former monastic precinct of the medieval Cluniac priory of St Augustine, and the eastern part of the historic town of Daventry. An Iron Age hillfort where later remains had also been found lay c. 1km to the east of the site, whilst excavations within the proposal area had revealed evidence of a 6th century ditch, and 10th-16th century settlement activity. Other sites recorded within the site included the approximate site of the Canonial College, the National School Building which dated from 1826, a church and churchyard and a 20th century memorial. It was concluded that the site lay within an archaeologically sensitive area, and that some aspects of the proposed redevelopment could potentially affect buried remains where the present buildings were uncellared.
