Abstract: |
Large scale excavations were undertaken ahead of the start of a new road scheme. Previous investigations within the site in 1982 had revealed several archaeological features and had confirmed the presence of significant remains within the site. A significant number of features were revealed during the excavations which suggested substantial occupation activity dating from the Late Bronze Age through to the post-medieval period. The occupation remains included boundary ditches and storage pits dating to the Early-Middle Iron Age, a rectangular ditched enclosure dating to the Late Iron Age and Anglo-Saxon timber building remains.
