Abstract: |
The site development was to comprise the construction of a linear two island structure with fixed berthing and mooring dolphins linked to the land by a walkway. The archaeological investigation required a geophysical survey, a diving inspection, excavation of sondages and a foreshore survey. The geophysical survey identified no material of archaeological interest. The excavation revealed a channel filled with clean grey clay with some small fragments of timber. The foreshore survey identified no material of archaeological significance, however, the availability of high quality data from cores, geophysics and diver observations enabled varying scenarios for the Holocene development of the Tamar to be sketched out. This would facilitate future targeting of both development-led and research investigations in the area. [Au(abr)] |
