Abstract: |
The evaluation was undertaken in advance of the proposed development of a sports complex. In most of the trenches topsoil sealed a substantial deposit of varying thickness and composition, that was interpreted as modern made ground relating to extensive landscaping during the construction of the school. Apart of obviously modern disturbances only five features representing ancient activity were recorded. Most of these were pits of Iron Age date, concentrated on a relatively small area of the site. There was no evidence of substantial or extensive archaeological remains. [Au(abr)] |
