Abstract: |
An archaeological survey was carried out prior to repair works (or demolition) being carried out on the deteriorating brick vaulted roof of the West Cover Block part of the Martini-Henry Rifle Butts (Listed Grade II). The Martini-Henry Rifle Butts were named after the 19th century rifle. A sketch survey of the building and the complex revealed that there were few known examples of extant cover blocks adjacent to 19th century rifle butts in Cornwall. It was recommended that the extant roof covering the west cover block was reinforced and retained. [Au(adp)] |
