Abstract: |
A second evaluation was carried out at a proposed development site, following proposals to submit an application for planning permission to erect a further house in addition to those for which planning permission had aready been sought. The original evaluation, undertaken in the central and eastern margins of the site, had demonstrated the presence of medieval features, including a pit, a gully and a probable robbed wall. The 1998 evaluation revealed two medieval features, one of which may have represented quarrying activity. Both contained much pottery, bone and charcoal. It was concluded that any development within the assessment area would have an impact on surviving archaeological remains. [AIP] |
