Abstract: |
Excavation in advance of the construction of a residential development identified a possible trackway of late medieval/early post-medieval date, a substantial pit or cellar backfilled in the 19th century, and land boundary divisions dating from the late medieval/early post-medieval period to the present day. The earliest wall in this sequence may have possibly represented a former boundary between the town of Keynsham and the Augustian Abbey founded on the banks of the River Chew. The latest wall in this sequence appeared to represent an 18th/19th century tenement boundary. [Auth adap] |
