Abstract: |
Excavations in the western half of Fennel Street in 1974 had revealed a series of gullies containing medieval pottery, sealed by a cobbled surface. During the watching brief, it was found that disturbance of the street by services was not total. However, the only certain archaeological feature identified was a brick wall, believed to have been of early-mid 18th century date. Human bones were found which had probably been deposited during 19th century street widening which had encroached upon two nearby graveyards. [AIP] |
