Abstract: |
The site of the proposed development was surrounded by archaeology. The buried soil was cut by two parallel ditches, possible demarcating the route of a northwest-southeast aligned trackway which produced pottery of 2nd century date. It was unclear whether these ditches were contemporary with a field system, consisting of notheast-southwest aligned drainage gullies of at least two phases. The Abingdon Road site may have lain within the agricultural hinterland of the Romano-British settlement at Hadden Hill. [Au(abr)] |
