Abstract: |
An archaeological assessment was made of an area of land to the south of Warkworth Castle proposed for development as a parking area. The work showed that the proposed development area lay immediately outside the Scheduled Warkworth Castle and within the boundary of an associated medieval deer park and an area of medieval ridge and furrow cultivation. The assessment considered the impact on the archaeology physically, and visually on the setting of the castle. A range of recommendations addressing the physical and setting issues for the proposed development were put forward. [Au(abr)] |
