Abstract: |
Monitoring of groundworks for a swimming pool and greenhouse adjacent to the house on the island area at Moat Farm, revealed some evidence for the medieval period on the site and evidence of more recent ground disturbance. Close to th house a footing trench appeared to cut through a pit which contained pottery sherds of 12th-13th century date, in addition a few stray sherds of medieval date were collected from the site. A deep well of probable late 19th century date was also revealed by the contractors adjacent to the house and various 19th/20th century pits were also noted. [Au] |
