Abstract: |
Desk-based study of land proposed for opencast coal extraction was undertaken as part of a wider Environmental Assessment for the proposed development scheme. Two known archaeological sites had already been excavated in the development area (a Romano-British settlement and an Iron Age/Romano-British settlement), and it was suggested that the may still have further archaeological potential. A third site, a flint scatters, was also known within the proposal area. It was suggested that further limited work would be necessary to provide adequate information to identifiy the full potential of the proposed development area. [Au(adp)] |
