Abstract: |
Excavation of a water pipeline was undertaken in an area of known archaeological importance and was therefore observed. A metal detector survey was undertaken on the stripped fields and removed topsoil, one lead artefact of medieval/post-medieval date was found. Finds recovery from topsoil stripping/de-turfing was not possible although one struck flint was recovered. Several modern field drains were seen in section in the sides of the trench. Three features of probable post-medieval date were seen and were probably infilled ditches. [Au(abr)] |
