Abstract: |
The results of the evaluation suggested that there were two adjacent large ditches running east west across the site. The earlier ditch contained a single sherd of late medieval pottery; however, no finds were recovered from the later ditch. There was anecdotal evidence of a drainage ditch, which once surrounded the adjacent Abbey precinct wall, and the ditches seen across the site were almost certainly part of this drain. [AIP] |
