Abstract: |
A watching brief at Wheal Ramoth provided an opportunity to investigate one of potentially the most ancient, yet least documented mining areas in Cornwall. Despite the almost total lack of surface evidence for mining activity, there was a considerable amount of archaeological information buried beneath the sand dunes. Archaeological structures around the mine shafts were poorly preserved. Various buildings, such as the engine house, had suffered badly at the hands of the army during WWII. [AIP] |
