Abstract: |
Two archaeological evaluation trenches were excavated in advance of a building's change of use. Three cut features were found cutting into the natural head brick-earth. Two of these features, both in trench one, were dated to the medieval period, but with some earlier residual prehistoric material within their fills and were thought to have represented domestic waste pits. The third feature was a shallow pit located in trench two, which contained little cultural material and was potentially prehistoric in date. The three features cutting the natural were sealed by accumulations of late medieval and post-medieval soil build up. Cutting into these horizontal deposits were a number of intercutting post-medieval domestic waste pits. [Au(abr)] |
